Soul Full Buckle Review

Carrier & Woven Wrap Reviews / Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017

The day has finally come, we need a Toddler Size carrier. I have been considering sizing up to a toddler size buckle carrier since my daughter turned two, and even though we were still fitting a standard size I wondered if the toddler carrier would offer my daughter a bit more comfort. When we were offered the opportunity to try another carrier from Soul,  a brand we have been loving so much over this last year we jumped at the chance.

Our new toddler size full buckle arrives in the signature reusable Soul bag that I adore. I have used these bags for many things including toys, mismatch socks, and most recently my daughters both took them as their Trick or Treat bags this Halloween. Your Soul buckle carrier will be washed and ready to use right from arrival.

We have been using the toddler size full buckle for a little over a month now and it has been a dream to carry my 30 lb daughter in.

One of my favorite features on this carrier are the straps. Soul buckles have a memory foam type feel in the carrier straps making them one of the most comfortable straps styles I’ve tried to date.

The straps are not bulky compared to some other buckle carrier companies I’ve enjoyed in the past such as on Tula, Kol Kol and Kinderpack. The comfort factor is still very apparent but without the bulk. You can see in the photo below how thin the straps look. This toddler sized buckle carrier from Soul in the Peppermint colorway is my favorite buckle style carrier I've tried to date. Another feature that is crutial to us comfortably wearing this carrier are the two-way shoulder adjustments, I like to call these dual-adjusters. A common issue many wearers experience with a buckle carrier (myself included) is the strap digging into your underarm area. With the dual adjusters I am able to pull any slack out that is needed to feel the carrier is tightened properly around my toddler and I, and by loosening the bottom adjuster I avoid that diggy feeling into my underarm.

I took a size comparison photo of our Soul Anoona against the toddler size to give you an idea of the size difference. The Soul Anoona, when adjusted to the largest setting possible is the same size as a standard full buckle from Soul. If your more of a visual person like I am, this will give you an idea of when your toddler might be able to graduate to the toddler size carrier.

The Linen is a premium linen and is thin and cool. This carrier would be ideal in summer weather or hot climates as the linen offers a lightweight and airy feel to it. I am drawn to the cool Peppermint colorway, a great neutral color that seems to match nicely with everything I wear (bonus).

A feature that some wearers might not love would be the straps do not cross on this carrier, which is often a great feature for petite wearers or some who have trouble fastening the back clip when carrying baby or toddler in a front carry. The hood also is not removable and is quite large so I like to cinch it up and leave it fastened by tying bows on each side when I’m not using it. With this being said the Soul AnoonA carrier does offer both of these options and is still suitable to carry a toddler up to 44 lbs, and is also available in the linen material.

Both my toddler and I experienced ultimate comfort wearing the full buckle in both front and back carries. I would absolutely recommend this carrier to any of my friends, family or clients I work with as a Babywearing Educator. It’s been a pleasure to try another product from Soul and since I am so in love with the Peppermint colorway, my good friends at Soul have sent me a Peppermint linen ring sling that you have the chance to WIN. 1. My daughter has always been a mama’s girl. She constantly wants to be held, so babywearing helps me avoid tired arms and still get things done while giving her the comfort she needs.

  2. Baby wearing helps me alot because I have 2 babies a 2 month old and a 17 month old. Our 17 month old is special needs and doesn’t walk yet so baby carrying her helps alot thanks for the awesome giveaway.

  3. Babywearing means things can still get done or at least get done hands free while caring for a tiny or fussy little one. It made being a mom of more than one finally feel possible to me 😊

  4. Thanks for writing such a thorough and thoughtful review! Babywearing has been such a valuable experience for my LO and I; being able to comfort her and keep her close when she is experiencing silent reflux has been extremely helpful!

  5. I didn’t baby wear with my first, but with baby #2 on it’s way in February and having my daughter turning 2 in February as well I think baby wearing is going to be great option for me. I believe I’ll be able to get stuff accomplished more easily, move around and travel more freely and transition from 1 baby to a toddler and baby much more smoothly with the help of baby wearing!

  6. I love how this carrier fits on the body. I’ve never worn a linen carrier before and after reading your blog post I’m wanting to check this out in person!

  7. I think i need to sizing up to toddler carrier too since my little boy turns 2 this November. And I love that color too! My favorite one

  9. We are getting close to needing a toddler size carrier.
Babywearing helps me get the grocery shopping done without little hands grabbing at all the bright coloured boxes on the shelves.

  10. So thankful for babywearing!! I would have a crying baby, a crazy mama and messy house without it… at least with it the baby is happy😂

  11. Babywearing has helped us so much. My son was born early and it helped us get that closeness. It also helped us transition our middle as she needed that comfort of still having mommy and daddy. I don’t know what we would do without it.

  12. Babywearing makes everything so much easier! I am able to get things done while holding my daughter, and get out of the house without the stroller!

  13. I baby wear A Lot! When my son was younger, I tidied, we cuddled, went for walks, and I cooked! Everything! Now I use my carrier a lot when travelling and when he is sick/teething to cuddle and comfort him while still keeping the house clean/tidy and making food 😊

  14. Babywearing helped me keep house and soon will help keep up with my 3yo and a newborn as well as keeping house and cooking.

  15. Love this colour way.
Also I never realized you had this as a toddler carrier.

Babywearing helps me get through the week. Everything from getting the house clean to visiting the zoo. Both my 2 year old and 2 month old get worn regularly.
