If your kids are like mine, mixing all the colors together that results in yucky brown or leaving it to dry out means playdough expenses can add up. So today I’m sharing my favorite homemade playdough recipe that you can make at home. It lasts long and you can choose your own colors or scents, and bonus…the kids love to help make it too.
Play Dough Recipe:
1 cup white flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tbsp cream of tartar
1 tbsp oil
1 cup water
Mix first 4 ingredients in large pot, add water and mix well. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes. Once dough forms into a clump, remove from stove and kneed for 5 minutes. Add food coloring in during kneeding process.
Play Dough keeps well in a zip lock or covered container. This recipe usually is enough for about 4-6 kids. If you’d like to get creative try doing cinnamon scented, or a favorite of ours is purple with lavender oil and sparkles which is very calming and great for a sensory exercise as well.
