Wallaby 2.0-The Ultimate Jacket {Review+Giveaway}

Baby + Children, Carrier & Woven Wrap Reviews, Mom + Women / Wednesday, December 13th, 2017

Wallaby 2.0 is the ultimate jacket offering maternity and babywearing options and can also be worn on it’s own making it the all in one jacket every mom needs. Created by Wombat & Co based out of London in the UK, this jacket is so universal with tons of options that will keep you (and baby) warm and comfortable this season. I was excited to be offered an opportunity to give it a try from Canadian retailer Hug & Cuddles.Wallaby 2.0 is the most versatile jacket that can be used for maternity, babywearing in a front or back carry, and is stylish on it's own as well. Read my review to see why I think it's the jacket every mom needs.

Ways to wear your Wallaby 2.0

The versatility of this jacket is amazing, it can be worn on it’s own as a regular winter jacket with the option to remove the scarf or hood. If you are pregnant you can zip in the front panel insert and viola, you have one awesome maternity jacket. The zip-in front panel insert will also be used when your wearing your baby in a front or back carry.

The Features

The Wallaby has a detachable scarf that is fuzzy and warm and I really like how is blocks any cold from coming in if you are using this as a babywearing jacket. Elastic drawstrings allow you to keep the cold out by cinching around baby in a front carry or around yourself if you choose to not use the scarf while back carrying. This feature will also come in handy when using the coat as a maternity jacket, as it allows it to be more fitted around your baby bump. The generous sized hood is lined with the same fuzzy material as the scarf and is SO soft. Wallaby 2.0 is available in the black with blue I’m wearing as well as the color options shown below and even a men’s style too. Wrist cuffs help prevent any drafts from coming in and a drawstring waist cincher helps keep Wallaby looking fitted for an everyday stylish coat.

I can really notice the quality in this jacket when I wear it; things like doing up the zippers, pockets that button closed, using the snaps, this jacket has all the bells and whistles anyone would want.

Babywearing Made Easy

A set of snaps at the back of the neckline can be opened to widen the space for baby and are easily reachable to fasten up afterwards. I found opening the snaps was helpful for a back carry, allowing me to not have a large gap open after I have the jacket on. When you are wearing babe in a front carry, the scarf blocks out any cold from your chest and neck. The zippers glide like a dream when your using the zip-in extender panel in either a front or back carry.

Many parents seek a great babywearing jacket that can easily be used in a front or back carry and this is one of the easiest I’ve found to date.

How to use it while Babywearing

Like I mentioned above you will use the extra panel insert that comes included with your jacket, which is a bonus since many companies this is often an extra cost. We made a tutorial that I’m sharing below of us getting the Wallaby on and you can see in this video how easy it is to use.

Final Thoughts on Wallaby 2.0

I used the Wallaby 2.0 on it’s own in -20 weather and was pleasantly surprised how warm it kept me. I like that the shell of the jacket wicks away snow and water, it’s perfect for the kind of weather I’ve already been experiencing this winter here in Canada. My only recommendation of change is I would love to see some sort of reach strap that the parent could pull to assist with heightening the zipper on the back once you have your baby in a back carry. Like I mentioned earlier, the snaps at the neckline cam help with this, or if you had anyone else around they could assist you with this. That being said I love this jacket and think the design is very well thought out, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. It’s stylish on its own and well worth the investment to be able to use it all the different ways.
